Our Program
Because Turkana, Kenya, is such a remote area of the country, few schools have been opened any distance from the tribal capital. In 2011, we opened our first Bread of Life ECD (Early Childhood Development) program, the first opportunity for education in the village of Morungor. This program consists of 2 levels of preschool that are required for a child to enter Class 1 (first grade). To date, we have opened 4 ECD programs and partnered with the tribal government to open a primary/junior secondary school in our community. Thanks to generous child sponsors, we currently have 280 kids in school with more children still awaiting sponsorship. Each child in our sponsorship program receives:
- a quality education
- 2 meals each day
- basic health care
- their initial uniform
- discipleship from Bread of Life staff
